Special Boss for C3 or mybe even for add-on for C2
I've had this idea in my head for a while and I think it would be great for C3 or an add-on for C2.
EDIT: The Psychic is an example name I use for the boss
The Psychic is a boss which always bears the same name and is a different profession all the time and also appears randomly on every PvE area if you are really lucky. He should be lvl 26-30 and should have 1-3 monsters with him and should be very hard to kill. In the rare case you manage to bumb into him and kill him each party member gets one green that depends on your highest attruibute point (or second, third etc highest if the first highest doesn't have a weapon/shield.)
This green weapon that you get always bears the ending "of the Psychic". So for a few green weaopon names dropped by him off the top of my head.
Sword of the Psychic
Ax of the Psychic
Club of the Psychic (hammer)
Bow of the Psychic
Blades of the Psychic
etc..
So if you have 16 in sword and you kill with you would get Sword of the Psychic. If you have 16 in wilderness and 8 in markmanship you would get Bow of the Psychic.
What do you guys think?

Interesting idea but I say it should be limited to high level areas, because if he shows up in a low level area you will just get angry players. As long as the stats on the greens are obtainable elsewhere.

The only problem I have with this idea is that I dont like the name "The Psychic", but thats a minor issue.

A boss that ALWAYS drops a predictable (essencially chooseable) green for EVERY player? But is a very rare spawn in any higher-level area in the game? Sounds cool. As long as he is very, very rare.

p.s ooh, maybe a new title? psychic hunter, kill this very rare boss 100 times.
I agree on psychic being a lame name. But obviously Anet would come up with some witty pop-culture reference.

This reminds me of Uber Diablo, in Diablo 2. For those who dont know he was an ultra rare boss that always droped a very good item (think of it as a higher then max dmg wepon, yea, that good). He only appeared when someone sold a Stone of Jordan (SoJ) to a merchant, however ppl very rearly sold them because they were one of the best rings in the game. Anyway after one was sold this boss would randomly appear somewhere in the game, u'd know if it was ur game cause the ground would shack and u'd get a message saying "Dialbo walks the earth" or something like that.
Anyway i think its a pretty cool idea.

Sounds good, but the pyschic seems to imply something that you don't seem to be building on...
And if I was doing this I would have a cinematic, when you agro him or whatever, and you get teleported into an arena with him in where you have to kill him *gasp*. Then just when you're about to kill him he throws a weapon at you and disappears.

Maybe the chance of meeting him scales up as the party move further from town?
E.g. 3% chance right outside town, each "non-repeating" map change +3% and capped at 15%?
Perhaps scale the chance up with increasing party size?

This is a rather interesting idea, has alot of potential to reward questing players, without the excess ability to farm. (With Nightwish's % chance to appear idea)
Also another possibilty to prevent farming is to have the weapon it drops automatically customized for who it dropped to.

Ya the person doesn't have to be called the Psychic just I used that as a name that could work. Also ya he should only spawn in high lvl areas (should have added that)

Yes I do agree he/she should be very very rare and even if he does spawn you would have to be exploring at the time and happen to look and see him in order to be lucky enough to fight him. Even if you do get to fight him it would be hard to kill him.
I also think it would be a good idea for right when you kill him instead of him dieing you go into a cinematic and he/she disapears and he leaves only 4-8 weapons (depending on party size).
However whatever C3 is this Boss's name should be tied to the plot.

The percentage should be a LOT lower, lower than 1% chance. Possibly you could have his level scale up with party size?

I like it, but it could get really annoying if you were like almost done with a really hard quest or something and he just popped up and destroyed your group...

yea, that would piss me to all hell, so lets make him only appear in secluded areas of maps, not predictable areas just places where there is enough space that u have a choice of agrroing him.
and if he is going to be that hard to find and killed, and if the weapon is automatically customized ( i think is a good idea ), lets have the weapon tansferable like a new bag or belt where it is accessible to all ur characters, kinda like a command button for the "pyshic's" weapon.
and i dont think it should be better than the best weapon, just have the weapon with popular mods (zealous/20%enchnt,etc) with the ability to change the mods. maybe better than max wep could mean once the weapon drops u can choose the mods/stats u want for it. no that would be quite rewarding for questers.

Well he/she would ahbve to appear over a mob or something and he couldn't go beside quest spots.
Even if he was inbetween you could go around him/her.
Monk: Ok this way...what the OMG THE PSYCHIC (or whatever name)
Elementist: O cool
Warrior/Monk: The Psychic OOO let me go and solo him!
Monk: NO DON'T WAMMO we have too much DP
Nerco MM: We can go around him by going right
Monk: Ya lets do that.

Sounds neat, but it would take some number tweaking to keep it interesting. But hey, if it means I get some nice staves out of it, huzzah! On that note, I think it would be nice if it also had a chance to drop 10/10 staves if you had, say 2 casting attributes as the highest, and they were tied (or maybe even within 1 point of each other).

have him appear if you clean out all mobs from a large, high level area, and even then, a high chance agasint it, that would stop the farming.
